For the effective management of the MCG elections to be held on September 24, the Haryana State Election Commission has announced three observers and 12 Assistant Reporting Officers (ARO’s) for the 35 wards in the city.

Dr. Abhilaksh Lekhi, one of the three observers, has been appointed to oversee the overall elections. On the other hand, Ashok Yadav, an IAS officer is the observer for expenditure and his primary duty is to monitor the campaign expenses of candidates. The third observer is KK Rao, IGP, IRB Bhondsi. Rao has been given the charge of checking the law and order situation during the poll period.

Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Pratap Singh has also announced the list of the 12 ARO’s and urged the interested candidates to file their nomination papers by September 13. Of these 12 ARO’s, one shall be the chief ARO with two wards under him. The eleven others shall have three wards each, under their supervision.

One of the chief responsibilities of these AROs will be the preparation of electoral polls. They shall also look at discrepancies, like for instance missing names from the voting lists. In addition to this, the AROs shall decide the areas where boards can be put up and shall also sanction the installation of hoardings and boards.
