Gurgaon: Thieves break into house in Sector 57

Unidentified men broke into a house in Gurgaon’s Sector 57 yesterday and escaped with jewellery and cash. The theft that took place in broad daylight reiterates the appalling ease with which thefts are increasing in Gurgaon. The police have registered a case and started investigations.

The theft happened while the owners were away to Sohna Road for some work.

“I left home around 10 am with my husband. We had gone to Sohna Road and picked our daughters up from their school in Nirvana Sector 50 on our way back. When we reached home at 1 pm, I was shocked to see the lock of the main broken,” says Sunita Gildiyal, owner of the house.

The almirahs had been ransacked. “However, the thieves did not touch the electronic gadgets,” added Vineet Gildiyal, Sunita's husband.

When asked about the incident, the neighbours said they had not seen anyone and or any suspicious activity around the house.

A team from the Sector 56 police station had visited the spot immediately after the incident was reported. “We have registered a case. No CCTV footage has been recovered from the spot, and so we are trying to check footage from other CCTV cameras in the vicinity,” said Arvind Kumar, station house officer of the Sector 56 police station.
