A generator fell on part of the boundary wall of Golf City 1, an Antriksh Group society in Sector 78, resulting in a cave-in on a jhuggi behind it. A family of five lived in that jhuggi.

Visheshwar, 26, was living there with his wife, mother and two children. His wife, Kanchan, 23, and daughter, Mushkaan, 5, have been reported dead. Others members of the family are seriously injured and have been shifted to Satya Medical Centre in Sector 34

The area has around 40 jhuggis and nearly 200 workers reside in them. All the workers worked in the society, which is still under construction.

All the workers along the boundary wall have been shifted to the club house of the society.

Purshuram, SO of Sector 49 police station, reached the spot and rescued the family.

The cave-in is believed to have happened because of a weakening of the generator podium due to rains, which was placed right next to the boundary wall. As the podium caved in towards the wall, the latter fell, unable to take the weight of the heavy-duty generator.

Residents alleged that the developer has used poor-quality construction material in the society, and the plaster ceiling in several flats had also come off.
