Delhi Police rejects request by Amrapali buyers for candle march at India Gate

Delhi Police has rejected the application made by Amrapali homebuyers for a candle march against the builder on September 9. The march was to take place at India Gate for four hours.

Over an hundred homebuyers of stalled housing projects in Noida and Greater Noida have been on indefinite protest from August 13. On September 6 they sought permission from the commissioner of police, Delhi, for organising a candle march to bring their problems to the central government’s notice. However, their application was rejected, citing traffic, and law and order issues.

KK Kaushal, one of the homebuyers who made the application, said that thoughthe government has been giving them the assurance that their problems will be solved, they are not practically helping them.

He said, “We have been protesting continuously for the past four weeks outside the corporate office of the builder. But neither the builder, nor the government has any concrete plan to offer that can solve our problem. We feel cheated.”
