Multilevel stack parking in Dwarka? Will SDMC stick to its commitment? The service lane in front of the Sector 6 market

There is good news for Dwarkaites. South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to rid the sub-city of its parking problems, especially around market areas.

SDMC mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat said, “SDMC is keen to set up multilevel automated stack parking so residents have more space. There will be minimum human interference in the functioning of the parking lots. This will ensure that people do not have to ask for favours from parking attendants.”

Parking has been a serious problem in the sub-city. Market areas, service lanes and even main roads are always chock-a-block with parked vehicles. Visitors complain that they find it difficult to park the vehicles, especially in the evenings and on weekends. Main roads have consistently become narrower, leading to nasty traffic snarls.

Mahesh Chowdhry, a resident of Sector 14, said, “In a planned city such as Dwarka, parking has to be managed. Ramphal Chowk is one of the worst areas for parking. Parking is also a huge issue in front of the markets in Sector 4, Sector 6 and Sector 12. If SDMC can do something about this, it would be a boon for Dwarkaites.”
