After water taps ran dry for the entire day yesterday, residents of Prateek Wisteria, a residential complex in Sector 77, Noida, on Monday protested against the developer saying it had failed to manage the crisis. There were around 40 residents that gathered outside the Prateek Group office in Sector 67, Noida, to ensure their voices were heard.

Neeraj Virmani, a resident and a member of the society AOA, said, “There are 1,800 of us and we didn't even have enough water for routine work. We ordered private tankers to tide over the crisis. Though we got 15 water tankers for everyone, we still ran short.”

Residents also said that this was the third in two weeks that they had experienced such acute water shortage. Despite this, the developer had done nothing to fix the issue.

Amit Gupta, former secretary of the AOA, said that though the water shortage was caused by damaged supply pipelines of Noida Authority, the developer could have put in place certain measures to ensure residents did not bear the brunt of it. But he did nothing of the kind.

Gupta said they had met SK Mittal, president of the Prateek Group, who had assured them that the developer would solve the problem. He said that the builder would come to the society on September 16 to address the problems residents were facing.
