UP CM warns of legal action if 50,000 buyers don't get flats in 3 months

Homebuyers of twin cities Noida and Greater Noida may now heave a sigh of relief, as the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth-led BJP government in UP has come down heavily on builders who have delayed possession by several years.

Yogi on Tuesday told builders to ensure that as many as 50,000 homebuyers be given possession of their properties within three months. He intervened in the matter during a recent meeting at Lucknow to review stalled projects.

He said his government would initiate action against any housing project that further delayed possession of homes to buyers. He said that officials of the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authorities would hold meetings with builders to solve technical and legal issues so they can expedite construction.

The decision is a result of several complaints made by homebuyers to the CM. Earlier, the Yogi government appointed a high-powered minister committee to understand builder-buyer issues.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Amrapali Group, Supertech and CREDAI; Suresh Khanna, minister of urban development, UP; Suresh Rana, minister of Sugar Cane Factory; and Satish Mahana, minister of industrial development.

Yogi added that an expert committee would be constituted to solve the issues between buyers and builder, and report to the CM every month.

He warned builders that if any builder failed to comply or coordinate with designated officials, legal action would be taken against them.
