Much to the relief of parents of Presidium School Indirapuram, the transfer certificates issued to 34 students now stand suspended until March 31, 2018. The decision was taken at a joint meeting between parents, the school administration and Rajesh Yadav, ADM Finance and Revenue, Ghaziabad.

The school had issued the transfer certificates due to non-payment of annual and development charges. The parents of these children claimed to have paid the tuition and transport fees but not the annual and development fees saying they were illegal.

Ever since, the parents have been running from pillar to post to get the transfer certificates, or the TCs, revoked, so they don’t affect their children’s education. The TCs were issued in the middle of the academic session, when the half-yearly exams were knocking on the door. Worried parents had been sitting on an indefinite protest in front of the school for the past one week. This was ended today after the TCs were suspended.

Over the seven-month-long suspension period till March, parents will have to pay only the tuition fees and transport charges, while the annual and development charges for the period will be held back.

Speaking to City Spidey, Atul Shrivastava, a parent and one of the protesters against the school’s decision, said that the decision had brought much relief to them. On being asked about the parents’ initial demand of revoking the TCs, Shrivastava said that the suspension was a small success but that they would continue the fight. “We have moved the high court about the issue and we will follow the court’s order. Till then, the fight will be on. We have called off the protest only for now,” Shrivastava added.
