How far has the police progressed in the Ryan murder case?

The two officials of Ryan International arrested in the case of the brutal murder of 8-year-old Pradduman Thakur have been taken into custody.

While HR head Jeyus Thomas was sent to judicial custody, Gurgaon Police has sought police custody for Francis Thomas. The reason, police say, is to ascertain whether the facts stated by Francis are true.

In his statement, Francis had said that factors such as CCTV surveillance, verification of employees, the boundary wall of the school, fire NOC and other financials were sent for approval to the Kandivali office in Mumbai. The police are to now confirm the facts.

In the meantime, the CBSE board today sent a team, headed by V Arun Kumar, to the school to conduct its own checks.

An eight-member forensics team also visited the school for taking the investigation forward.

The school, on its part, has fired eight security guards at the school. The guards on duty on the day of the tragedy were given no reasons for them sacked.

“We were not asked for any verification when we had joined this job; neither were we asked for documents,” said a guard.

Adding to that, Bimal Ram, another guard, said, “Today we were all interrogated by the police and our statements were recorded. I told the police how there was an attempt by the school to wipe away the blood from the crime scene.”

It can only be hoped that with this pace of investigation, Pradduman Thakur will get justice soon.
