Anguished Noida parents go on candle march against Ryan Intl murder

After the horrific murder of an 8-year-old boy in Ryan International School, Gurgaon, concerned parents of the Noida branch of the same school went on a candle march for justice and safety for their own children.

Parents started the candle march from Ryan International School in Sector 39, Noida, and ended it at the district magistrate’s office in Sector 27. Almost 100 parents participated in the march. Parents said they did not want the safety of their children compromised in any way.

On their way to meet the DM, parents even had an altercation with Mahendra Singh, city magistrate, on why they hadn’t taken prior permission to meet the DM, but parents persisted and finally got to meet him.

BN Singh, the DM of Gautam Budh Nagar, told parents that he had issued strict orders to schools and assured them that he would never compromise the safety of children. "They have been given 15 days to comply with all security guidelines," Singh told parents.

Ajay Kumar, a parent, told City Spidey that the government should take a hard step against the schools. "Schools charge us high fees but where is the safety of our children?” he added.

Alka Singh, another parent, said that Singh had assured them that he was taking this matter very seriously.
