Dwarka: Why trees along the service lane in Sector 6 must be pruned...

Here’s a slice of civic planning in Dwarka. The electric poles that have been installed recently along the service lane in Sector 6 are completely hidden behind trees.

SK Malik, a resident of Sector 6, said, "This is utter negligence in planning. The pole meant to illuminate the area is hidden in trees! There is ample space in the lane — there was no need for the poles to be there. I think the DDA should ponder on the inanity of their planning and ensure a course correction."

Residents of the area have demanded pruning of trees and restoration of the dug-up road.

Monika Miglani, a resident of Vrindavan Apartments, Sector 6, said, "The poles have been installed and wiring work is under way. But the trees would need to be periodically maintained. I also hope the damaged road is repaired after the wiring work is over."

SDMC mayor, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, who herself is a resident of the area, said, "I will talk to the DDA and make sure the trees are pruned.”

Director horticulture, DDA, YD Sharma, assured, "Pruning work is happening in Dwarka. These trees, too, will also be pruned soon."
