On Sunday, RWA of Sector 44, Noida handed over two cheques of Rs 2.5 lakh to Gudiya Sharma, wife of deceased guard Bhanu Kishore Sharma, who tried to stop a robbery in C 83 of the sector. He was shot at from close range by the miscreants using a country-made pistol and had later died at Kailash Hospital in Sector 27.

Today the RWA had organised a function at the Community Centre of the sector, where the widow of the guard was rewarded for her husband’s sacrifice. According to RWA members five lakhs have been given to Bhanu's family through two cheques worth Rs 2.5 lakh each.

Kamini Jain, RWA Organising Secretary of Sector 44, told City Spidey that the incident of September 6 which had claimed Bhanu's life was very tragic and hence the association wanted to honour him for his bravery. A cheque worth Rs 10,000 was also given to Pushpinder Kumar and another worth Rs 5,000 was given to Rama Shankar Yadav who are the other security guards of the sector. Kumar and Yadav too had demonstrated exemplary courage on that fateful day. "These guards are associated with the security agency, G4,” Jain said.

She also said that a cheque of Rs 5,000 was handed over to Shri Pal Singh Mathur (tailor) and Anil Kumar (dhobi) of the sector. “Out of the five lakhs which were given to Bhanu's wife, the RWA had contributed a lakh and the residents of Sector 44 had contributed the rest of the sum,” Jain informed.

"More than a hundred residents of the sector had donated sums of Rs 2,500, Rs 5000 and Rs 10,000,” Jain added.

Gudiya Sharma, wife of deceased Bhanu Kishore Sharma, said that this money will be used for his younger daughter’s marriage and the education of the children. “She is thankful to the RWA and other residents of the sector, who have donated their hard-earned money for her family,” Jain added.
