SC: Allahabad HC to dispose of GD Goenka's petition against Armaan's parents

Hearing the plea of Armaan Sehgal’s parents, the Supreme Court today ordered the Allahabad High Court to dispose of the quashing petition filed by GD Goenka Public School Indirapuram. The school had filed the petition at the Allahabad High Court for quashing the FIR lodged against them.

Speaking to City Spidey, Gurmeet Singh, the Sehgal family counsel, said, “The Supreme Court, while hearing our petition today, directed the Allahabad High Court to dispose of the petition originally filed by the school management for quashing the FIR. The apex court asked the HC to dispose of the school’s petition on October 4 or before October 15.”

“The apex court also gave us the liberty to raise all points and issues before the Allahabad High Court, and further directed it to decide upon the transfer of the investigation to the CBI,” Singh added.

Armaan Sehgal, a Class IV student of GD Goenka Public School, Indirapuram, died under mysterious circumstances on the school premises on August 1, and the parents have since been running from pillar to post to get justice for their son.

The parents of the deceased boy had on several accounts expressed dissatisfaction over the investigation being conducted by the Ghaziabad police and demanded that the responsibility be handed over to the CBI. They had raised similar demands with the Allahabad High Court and the Supreme Court.

The parents had filed a petition with the Supreme Court to quash the school’s petition at the Allahabad High Court to dispose of the FIR lodged against them after Armaan’s death. The police had registered a criminal case against the school management for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and for destroying evidence under sections 304 and 201 of IPC.

The case will probably be heard by the Allahabad High Court on October 4.
