Greater Noida society grapples with water infection Source of contamination: Water pipeline running through sewer

Express Park View, a society of Sector 5, Greater Noida, has been grappling with the issue of water contamination for quite some time now. Sewer water here is getting mixed with drinking water through supply pipeline.

Two dozen residents have already taken ill after regular consumption of contaminated water. Among the victims of water infection are a dozen children between three to 12 years of age.

Worried residents approached district magistrate and sought immediate measures to ensure supply of clean water. Civic authorities have collected water samples from the area and sent them to lab for tests. The test results are awaited.

Among the victims is three-year-old Roohi. She has been discharged from the hospital. Her father Diwansh Bansal told City Spidey that only after hospitalising her, they came to know about the cause of her illness. She was suffering from severe water infection.

Another resident, Deepak Bansal, informed that his two children, Diwanshu and Vadhika, were under treatment at a local hospital for the past three days. Both of them were diagnosed with water infection. They have been discharged from the hospital but they have not recovered completely. Doctors have advised them bed rest for at least 10 days.

Doctors at Mini Hospital, a local health facility, told City Spidey that there has been improvement in the condition of the 12 children due to timely treatment .
