Just an hour back, the woman took back her statement saying that she had filed a false FIR on account of some mental turmoil. Earlier in the day, she had also refused to undergo the mandatory medical examination.
Earlier today, we had reported that a 25-year-old woman had been gangraped in a car yesterday evening by two men who had picked her up from the Golf Course Metro Station. Avnish Dixit, station officer of Sector 39 Police Station had told this reporter from City Spidey that based on the complaint of the victim, a case of gangrape and criminal intimidation under Sections 376D and 506 of the IPC had been slammed against the two offenders.
However, just an hour back the woman has given a written statement to the police requesting them to withdraw her complaint. Avnish Dixit, SHO Sector 39 police station, said “The woman is now saying that she was upset over some issue and hence gave us false information.” Incidentally, the woman had also refused to go in for a medical examination to confirm rape.
So is the police taking any action against her for lodging a false complaint? “We are investigating the case a little more and shall then decide if some punitive action has to be taken. However, I must say that when the complaint was registered in the morning, we did suspect that it was not genuine,” Dixit replied.
