Jal Nigam suspends water supply for cleaning canal in Ghaziabad

There will be no supply of water to residents in Vasundhara, Indirapuram and Noida from the Jal Nigam of Noida Authority on Monday, as the authorities must halt water distribution due to cleaning operations in the canal that runs through Ghaziabad.

The residents must manage with the underground water for a few days, till Diwali, according to senior Noida officials.

S Srivastava, project engineer of Jal Nigam, told City Spidey that due to cleaning work in Pratap Vihar, Ghaziabad, water supply will stop. Once that is over, supply will resume but for a few days residents will have to depend on underground water. Noida has 32 tubewells and these will be able to supply 250 mld to the city every day. Each family will get 150 litres of water every day, he said.

All project engineers in the city have been asked to submit a report on the tubewells in their zones. Residents can also call on 2425025 and 2425026 and request for a water tanker, in case of a pressing need. Noida Authority owns 16 water tankers.

"Before Diwali, the supply of Ganga Jal will resume,” he said. Ganga Jal supply to Vasundhara, Indirapuram and Noida will be suspended for 22 days, starting from tomorrow.
