The Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon tells unhappy parents that Neerja Batra had been alerting the higher management about the existing lapses in security.
Neerja Batra, principal of Ryan International Bhondsi who had been suspended from service after the gruesome murder of an eight year old student at the school premises has now been appointed as the principal of Ryan International in Gurgaon Sector 40.
Her appointment has understandably upset the parents of the children studying in Ryan International Sector 40.
“After the horrific incident my son has been badly scarred. To find the same staff employed here will be traumatic not just for him but all the other children too," said a parent on condition of anonymity
“We are not at all comfortable with Neerja Batra’s appointment. Our children are still scared and every one had repeatedly heard her name on news. This is a bad decision in terms of child psychology,” said Amit Sharma a resident of Patel Nagar.
Allaying these concerns Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Pratap Singh said, “During our investigations we found that she had already alerted the higher management and authorities about the safety and security lapses of the school. Batra was earlier anyway serving at the Sector 40 premises of this school chain. Hence we decided to send her back here.”
Incidentally, after a working relationship of almost 20 years, Batra had taken charge of Ryan International Bhondsi only in the previous quarter of this year.
Despite the DC’s assurance parents will take a long while to come to terms with this appointment. It now remains to be seen whether parents start taking out their wards from this branch.
