The event, meant for the under-22 category, was organised by UVA'S, an organisation involved in promoting sporting events in the community, in collaboration with FORWAS (Federation of RWAs of Sector 9).

Colleges from across Delhi participated in the event.

Coach Shashi Kumar, also the founder of UVA'S, said, “This is the first-ever girls’ volleyball tournament in Dwarka. It has been organised with support from the residents. A total of 16 teams from Delhi participated in the event.”

The tournament received great support from the community.

A social activist and resident of Paradise Apartments, Poonam Tyagi, provided a tent to serve as the changing room, while another social activist, Madhury Varshney, helped to gain permission for the venue. Everybody else pitched in as well.

FORWAS president, Advocate KS Bhati, said, “It was a complete community effort. We all joined hands to make the event a success. This is the first time when people from across the sub-city came forward to support a sporting event meant exclusively for girls.”
