Gurgaon set for its second women police station in Manesar

Keeping in view the increasing number of crimes against women, Gurgaon will have its second all-women police station in Manesar.

The new police station will have jurisdiction over Manesar, Kherki Daula, Farrukhnagar, Badshahpur and other southern areas of Gurgaon.

According to police records, Gurgaon witnessed 243 molestation cases and 101 rape cases till September this year. And these are just official numbers.

“The infrastructure will soon be in place. We have also designated inspector Poonam Singh as the SHO. This police station will enable fast registering of complaints and FIRs and women will feel more confident of approaching the police,” confirmed Ravinder Kumar, public relations officer, Gurgaon police.

Welcoming the move, Sonia Mathur, who works with a company in Manesar, said, “This is indeed a great step! It will provide women victims a more comfortable and secure environment to speak up. It will certainly prove a deterrent."
