The dark side of Dwarka's Durga Pooja society

Durga Pooja society in Dwarka Sector 13 has had a dark back lane for more than eight months now. There are light poles there but no lights.

This, despite the mayor of SDMC having a discussion with BSES officials about the problem.

President of the society, Ajay Chawdhary, said, “The officials are least bothered. Had they taken the issue seriously, it would already have been resolved.”

Secretary of the society, Ajay Sharma, said, "This is a huge security threat. There are poles, but either the fittings are missing or the bulbs are not working. Despite the area not being under the mayor’s jurisdiction, she talked to the concerned BSES officials, but has there been any change? No!"

According to the residents of the society, the darkness and the wild bushes serve as the perfect cover for open consumption of liquor and other antisocial activities.

SK Dagar, DGM of BSES, said, “The stretch is not in our jurisdiction. It is the DDA’s responsibility to instal new poles there. We have already informed them about the matter and now the ball is in their court.”
