ATS Advantage set for fresh polls after a year without AOA

After almost a year of running without a valid AOA, the district administration is set to conduct fresh elections at ATS Advantage, a high-rise complex in Indirapuram. The nominations have already been filed, and polls are scheduled for October 8.

Following complaints from residents of the society, the deputy registrar (DR) passed an order on October 15 last year, declaring the body time-barred. The order had stripped the AOA of some of its rights, such as conducting meetings, taking major decisions and carrying out major financial transactions in the society.

However, on February 2, 2017, the DR issued a letter addressed to the district magistrate with a request to facilitate the society's election as soon as possible for the welfare of the residents. In the letter, the DR mentioned that since the AOA was formed in December 13, 2015, the body’s term ended a year later.

Speaking to City Spidey, residents said that elections were earlier scheduled for late August or early September, but had to be postponed owing to the absence of an updated voters’ list of the society.

The election will now be conducted under the guidance of Sanjay Kumar Bansal, SDM, Ghaziabad.

DC Aggarwal, member of the election committee, said though initially 31 residents had filed their nominations three had later withdrawn. “Of the 31 nominations, three had withdrawn. There are 28 male candidates and the rest are females,” he added.
