Noida: This Diwali street lights to finally see light

It is indeed going to be a bright Diwali for residents of Noida as the Noida Authority has finally heeded to their demand of repairing the dysfunctional street lights before October 19.

For a long time, despite repeated complaints by residents and RWAs, the authorities had done nothing to address the issue of dark lanes

Kishore Kumar, a resident of Sector 20, told City Spidey that the authority had callously dismissed complaints by either saying that they don’t have fresh bulbs in their disposal or the requisite repair tools.

“However, if the news about their embarking on a street light installation mission before Diwali is true, residents definitely have a reason to cheer. At present more than half the street lights are non-functional in our sector alone,” Kumar said.

According to an official of Noida Authority the repair works have already started. Alok Tandon, chief executive officer of Noida Authority, has ordered all the project engineers of the city to get involved in this initiative and ensure that every street light in their respective zones too are functional.

The official also added that the bulbs shall soon be replaced by LED lights. “However, our first priority is to repair all street lights of the city before Diwali,” he added.
