The residents conducted the first phase of the cleaning drive today along with local maintenance agency workers.
While most residents of Indirapuram are busy with pre-diwali cleaning and renovation, a bunch of people from some residential societies in Ahinsa Khand 2 undertook a Diwali special neighbourhood cleaning drive today. These residents who had gathered under “Green Team” worked with the staff of the local maintenance agency to clear out the garbage piles that had accumulated in several corners of the locality.
Speaking to City Spidey, residents who had participated in the cleaning drive said that it had been done on two stretches. One was from Rishabh intersection to Pusta Road and the other was from Rishabh intersection to Ashiana Greens Society. According to them mostly soil and polythene bags had been cleared. The soil came from tractor trolleys which carried debris from a construction site of an upcoming society.
The second phase of the cleaning drive shall be conducted tomorrow. It will also include an awareness drive ‘Scoop the poop’, which is essentially aimed at pet owners who relieve their pets in public areas.
“These pet owners tend to relieve their pets early in the morning when there are very few or no people around. Hence we are planning to go out early in the morning tomorrow to educate these people. We have also planned to conduct weekly drives throughout the month,” said Jayati Jain, a Green Team member and a resident of Rishabh Cloud 9.
