Noida: How safe are these untrained security guards of Divine Meadows?

About 300 families living at Divine Meadows, a residential society in Sector 108, Noida, are unhappy with the security arrangements provided by the maintenance staff.

Residents are demanding that the local agency that is overseeing security should be replaced by a more professional agency with established credentials. They also feel that the maintenance team has not made security a priority despite the fact that they are collecting high maintenance charges.

Surender Kushwaha, president of the homebuyers’ association of the society, told City Spidey that the security guards are untrained and unprofessional.

“They used to work as labourers during the construction phase and now the builder has deployed them as security guards,” he added. Needless to say, appointing labourers as security guards translates to a potential threat. After all the background checks of these labourers are neither comprehensive nor full proof.

Dhiraj Kumar, a resident, said that there are six security guards on duty at any given time. Five of them are present at the gate and one is posted at the clubhouse. “However, there are no security guards deployed at the six towers within the society. This is a major safety lapse,” he added.

When City Spidey contacted Brijesh Kumar, a staff member of the maintenance team, he said, “We are facing some financial problems. However, we are trying our best to resolve the challenges and appoint a good security agency. Hopefully there will be a change now as we have made an estimate for better security arrangements which shall soon be forwarded to our project director.”
