Owe GNIDA less than Rs 500 in land dues? You are now off its defaulters' list

There are 1,765 allottees on the list — many who owe less than Rs 500. These names have been struck down owing to financial expediency.

Owe GNIDA less than Rs 500 in land dues? You are now off its defaulters' list

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has decided to remove names of those land allottees from its defaulters’ list who owe up to Rs 500 to it.

There are 1,765 allottees in the defaulters’ list of GNIDA.

According to GNIDA officers, the authority spends Rs 40 on sending a notice by post, and it has to be done thrice before initiating any action. This spells more financial loss than the arrears themselves, they added — and hence the decision.

Bal Krishna Tripathi, additional CEO of GNIDA, said, “The first list was an automated one — there were a few names that had defaulted by a paisa. The staff hadn’t checked the list, and these names were also included. So we are now removing the names that owe up to Rs 500 from the defaulters’ list.”

The authority has been struggling to recover about Rs 4,346 crore in dues from the builders alone. It sent notices to 99 builders in Greater Noida on October 1.

The total outstanding dues have been pegged at Rs 7,200 crore from all allottees, including builders and individuals.
