Amrapali Group buyers to take to dhols to jolt the government into action

To make themselves heard, irate buyers of Amrapali Group will conduct a rather unique protest tomorrow. Beating dhols, the protesters will start from the Sector 18 Metro station and end at the Sector 16 Metro station.

The protest, dubbed "Dhol Bajao Sarkar Jagao", aims to awaken both the state and the central governments out of their slumber, claim participants.

KK Kaushal, a buyer of Amrapali Dream Valley, told City Spidey, “Before the elections, the BJP government had promised all Gautam Budh Nagar buyers that if it comes to power, it will help all dissatisfied buyers. However, even after six months of the Yogi government, nothing has changed for buyers.”

"Amrapali buyers have even reached the Supreme Court to protest against the builder’s insolvency plea. The builder is trying to declare itself bankrupt. If it is allowed to do so, the earnings of our lifetime will be lost,” Kaushal said.

“Anyway, if the builder-buyer issues are solved by the court, why should we choose this government, which made a whole lot of fake promises to buyers?” he lashed out.

According to buyers, 80 per cent to 90 per cent of the flat money has already been paid to the builder in 2009-10. Therefore, without possession, buyers have been suffering for the past seven years.

On August 12, Amrapali buyers began an indefinite strike outside the builder’s office in Sector 62.

Then, on September 14, an eight-member buyers’ delegation met urban development minister Suresh Kumar Khanna in Lucknow. Local MLA Pankaj Singh also travelled with the delegation.

Quite a few BJP leaders also met the protesting buyers, but nothing happened.
