Gurgaon: Residents of South City 1 pave their own way

Residents of South City 1, Gurgaon have decided to repair a six kilometre stretch of road by putting in their own money. The residents have been repeatedly urging the builder to repair this road for quite sometime now. However, the builder has not complied with their requests.

All the roads of South City 1 are in a dilapidated condition. Huge potholes and broken patches have caused accidents to both pedestrians and vehicles. Out of the six kilometer stretch that has been identified for repair around 1.5 km has already been repaired. Subject to the size of plots, houses in South City 1 will be contributing anything between five to ten thousand for this initiative.

Chandra Mohan Gupta, President RWA, South City 1 said, “We are paying maintenance charges to the builder but do not even get the basic facilities. This road had to be repaired by him but he has turned a blind eye.”

Ashish Nath, a resident said, “I am planning to relocate from South City 1. The colony has stray dogs, pigs and broken roads. This move to repair the roads is a huge relief”
