This resident captured the perfect flavour of Halloween in northern India.

Halloween, India's festival import from the West, was celebrated in many NCR societies yesterday (October 31). Interestingly, however, this day that the dead are remembered in Western culture coincided with Dev Uthani Ekadashi in northern India, when devotees evoke and wake up the gods and the good spirits.
This strange combination found perfect expression in Gurgaon’s Uppal’s Southend, in which children dressed up in their favourite scary costumes went trick-or-treating in the neighbourhood — and were welcomed with marigold garlands!
It was, in fact, quite funny to see these very scary ghosts and zombies, with flowers around their necks, roam a neighbourhood lit up with earthen lamps and lights on the occasion of Ekadashi.
The kids, however, had a lot of fun! And why wouldn’t they? They came away with their favourite sweets — and even a few Hajmola candies!
