Will MLA Pankaj Singh be able to help Amrapali buyers get possession?

Representatives of Amrapali buyers protesting outside the Amrapali building in Sector 62, Noida, today met local MLA Pankaj Singh about the possession date of their flats.

The buyers had gone on an indefinite protest from August 12, which is continuing till date.

KK Kaushal, a buyer told City Spidey, that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may have formed a committee to solve builder-buyer issues, but so far it has not achieved any results. The committee comprises of the state industries minister Satish Mahana, urban housing minister Suresh Khanna and state minister Suresh Rana. “About 70,000 flat buyers are facing financial problems because they have invested their life savings into Amrapali projects,” Kaushal added.

Kaushal also said that Pankaj Singh had assured them that he would meet the urban housing minister Suresh Khanna to talk about possession dates.

According to the buyers, the builder was supposed to deliver most of the flats by 2015. It was also trying to declare itself insolvent — something the buyers are strongly opposed to. They want the UP government to carry out an audit of the projects.

A number of politicians have met the buyers till date, asking them to withdraw the protest, but with no solution in sight, the hapless buyers remain adamant.

A buyers’ delegation had also met the urban development minister, Suresh Kumar Khanna, last month in Lucknow. However, even this meeting failed to yield results.
