In the course of a police public meeting organised by the Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get-together (ANHLGT) at the Community Hall of Dwarka Sector 23, about hundred women from various sectors of Dwarka spoke to Rajendra Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police about a slew of pressing safety issues.

Women urged the ACP to increase patrolling in the parks particularly those in the vicinity of residential societies. According to the women after dusk the parks are being by anti-social elements who often consume liquor. Incidents of chain snatching have thus become rampant. The problems created by school vehicles parked on thoroughfares were also extensively discussed. Residents of Sector 23 have requested the ACP to instruct traffic cops to pay special attention to the traffic on the road near Sector 21 Metro Station. They also want the traffic cops to bring some order to the haphazard parking that happens on this stretch.

After hearing the problems of the people the ACP assured prompt action. He stated that efforts to improve policing are already underway and the relationship of the police with the common people has improved after the introduction of initiatives like Police Mitra. “We are trying our best to fortify security measures at Dwarka through a  community spirit and the results are manifesting. I am personally available to take up any suggestions made by people,” Singh said.

President of ANHLGT, Cicily Kudian said, “We shall be organising a follow-up meeting again to take stock of the goals that have been determined in this meeting.”
