Sector 23 of Noida had made national news when a beacon-bearing SUV belonging to a DIG of ITBP was stolen from the sector. Three months after the incident, residents of the sector say security is hardly better.
K Lal, president of the RWA, said the only visible change in the sector security was increased police patrolling. But there were still only 14 CCTV cameras in the area. The number of private security guards, too, remained the same.
Residents say that with no restriction on visitors, anyone could enter the sector.
B Prasad, a resident, said that though the RWA made it a point to close Gate No 2 every day after 11 pm, this hardly ensured sufficient security inside the sector. "There should be stickers on each resident vehicle, so guards can easily identify the ones coming in from outside," he said.
