Dwarka: Will the civic authorities deliver on their promises? Akhilesh Pandey

Change starts with oneself and big changes definitely start with concentrated efforts at the community level. This is exactly what is happening in Dwarka these days. People are coming together in a community spirit to meet with civic authorities and discuss the existing slew of civic issues and devise solutions. Pollution, electricity, water bills, single metre connections, solar policy for Cooperative Group Housing Societies, removal or shifting of wine shops in Sector 6 are all being discussed.

Recently MLA, Gulab Singh Yadav had meetings with Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi and Satyendra Jain, State Power Minister. The meeting with the power minister was attended by Pradeep Bansal from Katyayani Apartments in Sector 6, SS Goel from IIT Engineers CGHS Apartments in Sector 10, AK Saigal from Krishna Apartments in Sector 9, OP Dhyani from Dharam Vihar CGHS Apartments in Sector 10 and Madhuri Vaishney from Ekta Apartments in Sector 3 along with the MLA. Pradeep Bansal told City Spidey, “We are making efforts to raise pertinent points that are disrupting civic life in Dwarka. The power minister has assured us of prompt redressal.”

According to Bansal the delegation had apprised the minister about the fact that a majority of CGHSs in Dwarka, have single point 11 KV connection and the residents of these CGHSs have been demanding for individual LT service connections for quite sometime now.

“The minister stated that a decision in regard to the conversion has already been issued to the DERC. A BRPL representative has also enquired on the status. The BRPL representative stated that the DISCOMs would comply with any directives issued by DERC in this regard,” said Bansal. Bansal reiterated that the current system of power supply within the CGHS was functioning efficiently and therefore the residents should not be charged any fees for the conversion.

The power minister has asked his PA to arrange another meeting on February 5 next year to review progress on this matter.

In the meeting with the CM issues of sewage charge and penalties on CGHSs from Delhi Jal Board were discussed. Residents like president of RWA Sector 8, PS Dhunta, Swaraj Gupta, a resident of Sector 9, Pradeep Bansal a resident of Sector 6 and Geeta and Sanjeev Jain both residents of Sector 4 were present with the MLA.
