A pregnant woman died after being run over by a car in Sector 18, Noida. The incident happened when a parking attendant lost control of the car while pulling out of the parking lot and rammed into a couple.
The victim, identified as Mansi Singhal, 26, was eight months pregnant. She was living in JM Aroma, a residential society in Sector 75, Noida.
The woman was rushed to Kailash Hospital in Sector 27 but was declared dead. Her husband, Prateek Singhal, has been admitted to the hospital and is said to be in serious condition.
According to Noida Police, Mansi and her husband had just bought a cake from a shop in Sector 18 and were walking towards their car when the incident happened. The parking attendant reportedly reversed the car in high speed and ran over Mansi as well as her husband. It also hit two other cars, and eventually hit a nearby pole.
The accused has been arrested and the car has been seized.
Relatives of the deceased are demanding strict action against the accused.
“The couple was out for shopping on Sunday evening in the Sector 18 market when the attendant, who lost control of his car, rammed into them,” confirmed Shwetabh Pandey, circle officer (CO) of Noida Police.
A police investigation is under way and further details are awaited.
