Ashok Kumar, the bus conductor who was initially suspected by Gurgaon Police to be the alleged murderer of Pradyuman Thakur, has been released on bail on a bond of Rs 50,000 by Gurgaon Court.
He had been in custody for 73 days.
The bail was given on the basis of "right to liberty". However, till the chargesheet is filed, the CBI is not willing to give Kumar a clean chit.
Judge Rajni Yadav pronounced that without concrete evidence against Kumar, there was no point keeping him in jail.
He was earlier denied bail by the same court.
His defence counsel, Mohit Verma, had earlier stressed that since the CBI did not have any evidence against his client, he could not be kept locked away.
