In a rather depressing incident, the body of a 22-year-old girl was found hanging from the ceiling of her rented flat on Palm Road in Shipra Sun City, Indirapuram. The noose was made from a dupatta, and police say it could be a case of suicide.

The victim has been identified as Shubhi Agarwal, a native of Aligarh who was enrolled on a graduation course at the Jaypee Institute, Noida.

The body was discovered around midnight yesterday, when one of her college mates reached the flat after repeatedly trying to reach her over phone. Agarwal's flatmate had left for her hometown yesterday, as she had been feeling unwell.

Her friend, who did not want to be named, found the flat locked from the inside when she reached. She then called her other friends, who helped break open the flat and take her to Fortis Hospital in Sector 62, Noida, where she was declared brought dead.

According to the police, prima facie, the incident looks like a case of suicide, but all angles are being investigated.

Rakesh Kumar Mishra, circle officer of Indirapuram, said the family members of the girl have been informed and her body sent for post mortem.

According to sources, the girl had injury marks on her body. However, Mishra maintained that further investigation would be conducted on the basis of the post-mortem report.
