Gaur City 2, Noida Ext: Mother-daughter duo beaten to death, then stabbed

Noida Police today reported a double murder in Gaur City 2, Noida Extension. The police found the dead bodies of a woman and her daughter from a flat in 11th Avenue.

The deceased have been identified as Anjali Aggarwal, 42, and Manikarnika, 11.

Police said Anjali's husband, Soumya Aggarwal, was a businessman and had gone to Surat in Gujarat on December 3 for a business deal. His parents had left for Dehradun during the weekend to attend a wedding. They came back this morning.

Ajay Kumar Sharma, station officer of Bisrakh police station, told City Spidey that the husband made several calls to his wife on Monday night, but there was no response. He then asked his neighbours to check on them yesterday morning. They found the door locked. The phone, too, was switched off. So he asked his cousin, Virat, to take a look last night. He, too, found the house locked. After getting no response from inside, he called the police.

A police team reached the spot and broke open the flat. The mother-daughter duo was found dead in their bed, and a cricket bat with blood stains on it was recovered from near the bodies.

According to the police, the murders took place on Monday.

“We suspect the murders have been committed by the 16-year-old son, who was seen leaving the house in the CCTV footage. No one seems to have entered or left the flat since. The boy is absconding and the police has launched a manhunt to nab him,” Sharma said.

“Prima facie, it appears that the son attacked the duo with a bat and then stabbed them with a pair of scissors several times, as both the bodies have a lot of stab wounds,” added a senior police officer.

Agarwal has a business of tiles in the Barola village of Noida. He hails from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier, the family was living in Sector 62, Noida, and shifted to the Gaur City 2 flat in April this year.
