Supertech Capetown residents protest against the builder’s unreasonable charges

To get the newly introduced club charge rolled back, residents of Supertech Capetown, a residential society in Sector 74, Noida, today demonstrated against the builder on the society premises. Hundreds of residents of the society participated in the demonstration and demanded that the club maintenance charge be rolled back.

Bhupendra Routela, a resident, told City Spidey that the developer had asked the residents to pay club maintenance charges of Rs 500 per flat from this month. “The club is part of the common area and residents of the society are already paying common area charges, or CAM, of Rs 2.5 per sq m, plus taxes. So the developer’s demand of a separate maintenance charge for the club is unethical,” he said.

According to residents, there are about 2,500 flats in the society, and with the builder charging club maintenance on all flats, the amounts generated is around Rs 2.5 crore. The residents alleged that this sum of money had nothing to do with maintenance of the society and was simply for the builder's profit.

Routela also said that the developer earned from the rentals of the commercial shops inside the premises. “The builder also charges Rs 210 per flat for Ganga jal. This is not acceptable, because at the time of water connection, each resident paid Rs 25,000 to the builder,” he added.

Residents also said that the society's security arrangements were sub-par. While no CCTV cameras have been installed in the basement, only a few are installed in the society, which is insufficient for covering 2,500 flats.

"After seeing the aggression in the faces of residents, the builder has decided to roll back his decision and now there is no demand for club maintenance charges from builder’s side,” Routela said.

When City Spidey tried to reach out to officials of Supertech, no one was available for comment.
