The case of death and costly dengue treatment of 7-year-old Addya at Fortis Memorial, Gurgaon, has taken a new twist, as a formal complaint against the hospital has been filed by the parents. Addya’s father, Jayant Singh, told City Spidey that he had filed a formal complaint with Gurgaon Police on December 8.

He submitted an 11-page complaint to the police accusing the management of the hospital, doctors and staff involved in the treatment of Addya. He also filed a complaint of culpable homicide of his daughter. In the complaint, he mentioned how he had been cheated by the hospital during the treatment without taking his consent or signature. He alleged that the hospital forged his ad his wife's duplicate signatures.

Singh, in a talk with City Spidey, said that he was determined to take the case to a certain outcome and get justice. “I am also planning to file a writ petition in Supreme Court. I want a concrete policy or rule in place, so such incidents do not happen again,” he said.

Meanwhile, Haryana’s health minister, Anil Vij, has sent a letter to Haryana Urban Development Authority seeking the cancellation of the land lease of the hospital. Earlier, following an investigation by the committee constituted by the Haryana government, the hospital’s blood bank licence was cancelled, as it was discovered that the hospital had overcharged for blood platelets.

The case came to light when a friend of Addya's parents posted on social media about the treatment cost of Rs 16 lakh in two weeks, and the inhumane behaviour of the hospital doctors, staff and management during treatment and the death of 7-year-old Addya.
