A 35-year-old police inspector, Rahul Dev, was rewarded for his exemplary performance on Zero Tolerance Day, observed in Gurgaon recently. It was essentially a day to curb traffic violations by booking offenders. This particular inspector had issued the highest number of challans.

The Gurgaon police commissioner rewarded the inspector with a commendation certificate and a cash prize of Rs 2,000.

Speaking to City Spidey, Sandeep Khirwar, police commissioner, said, “Our primary duty is to enforce traffic rules, and hence apart from our regular routine of issuing challans, we conduct zero-tolerance drives.”

The reward has encouraged other policemen to give their best to their jobs.

Speaking about his experience, Inspector Rahul Dev said, “My objective was to ensure that challans were issued to all the people who are driving without helmets and seat belts. I also penalised drivers who were overspeeding, underage or drunk.”
