A vendor protest choked one of Indirapuram's prime arterial roads this evening

The vendors who gathered on the Kala Patthar Road were protesting against the authorities for evicting them from their locations in the Nyay Khand area.

Traffic came to a standstill on Kala Patthar Road of Indirapuram today evening. This prime arterial road was blocked by hundreds of roadside vendors who were protesting against the authorities for forcefully evicting them from their usual locations in the Nyay Khand area.

Speaking to City Spidey, Shamshad Ali, president of Indirapuram Vendors Association said that for sometime now the police has been chasing them away from their usual areas of business basis some objections raised by local residents. Residents had mainly alleged that these vendors are responsible for traffic congestion and noise pollution. According to sources, the vendors mostly hailed from the nearby Makanpur village.

The vendor protest had choked the already congested Kala Patthar Road, which witnesses a heavy traffic rush from the nearby NH 24.

The protest subsided after the police intervened and assured the vendors that an amicable solution to their problem would soon be found.
