GB Nagar administration penalises five builders for violating NGT norms

The district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar has levied a penalty of Rs 5 lakh each on five builders found guilty of violating National Green Tribunal (NGT) norms on pollution.

These builders are Samriddhi Luxuriya Avenue in Sector 150, Logix Blossom Zest in Sector 143, Sikka Kaamna Greens in Sector  143, Lotus Greens in Sector 150 and ACE Parkway in Sector 150.

According to an officer of the district administration, the NGT directive states that developers who do not adhere to the guidelines (on construction sites) issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forest in 2010 will be penalised.

Among other things, the guidelines mandate the builders to sprinkle water on the construction sites every day. They also need to develop a green belt around the area and cover the construction site with a sheet to prevent the spread of dust.

Mahendra Singh, magistrate of Noida, said that a team of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has ascertained the violation of the NGT norms.

"The defaulting builders have been instructed to send their replies to the notice within a week,” Singh added.

In the past, Noida Authority has fined more than 50 builders for violation of construction norms.
