Home buyers of different projects in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway — such as Jaypee, Amrapali, Supertech, Unitech, Pan Oasis — will demonstrate against the government on December 25 at the Film City in Sector 16A. The protest will be conducted under the banner of NCR Homebuyers’ Association.

According to members of the association, during the UP elections, BJP candidates had promised flat buyers of GB Nagar that they would be give all possible support in securing possession of homes. But, they alleged, after the BJP win in the UP elections nothing was done at the ground level for buyers.

On December 25, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Noida to inaugurate the Magenta Line Metro. Home buyers are planning to demonstrate before them.

Rashesh Purohit, NCR Homebuyers’ Association founder member, told City Spidey that all buyers will cover their face with a black mask. “UP CM formed a panel of three ministers to secure our rights, but they have done nothing so far. More than 3,00,000 flat buyers are suffering and the government is doing nothing about it.”

He added, “The police is not filing FIRs against builders and the state government is taking action only against small builders! The panel was formed to hoodwink the builders — to punish only the small builders.”

In June this year, Noida and Greater Noida Authority started tri-party meetings to resolve the builder-buyer issues, but those too proved futile as both the authorities remained silent on most of the issues.

Homebuyers also took to the social media to bring attention to their plight.

Ninety-four projects in Noida and around 190 projects in Greater Noida are stuck owing to financial reasons. In a high-level meeting held in September this year, UP chief minister ordered officials to ensure that 50,000 homebuyers got their homes in Noida and Greater Noida areas.

On December 4, the ministerial panel — during the course of a meeting with builders and officials of Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) — declared that 32,500 flats would be delivered by the end of this month.
