People driving from Noida to Akshardham and areas of East Delhi will experience a signal free ride from February. The under construction flyover near Mayur Vihar Phase 1 metro station will be connected to the existing flyover on the Noida-Delhi link road by end of February. This was announced by Rajveer Singh, a project engineer (PWD) of Delhi Government.

This under construction flyover was scheduled for inauguration in September this year. Speaking to City Spidey, Rajveer Singh said,  Nearly 80% of the work is complete. Only some finishing touches remain and we should be able to wrap up everything within two months.”

The new flyover will run parallel to the existing flyover near Mayur Vihar Phase 1 metro station.

Given the existing road scenario, commuters from Noida have to halt at the traffic signal near Mayur Vihar Phase 1 before turning right towards Mayur Vihar. Similarly, people heading from Mayur Vihar Phase 1 to Akshardham have to wait at the same signal.

After the flyover opens, the signal will be removed and all Mayur Vihar Phase 1 bound traffic will be managed with the help of two loops. These loops will be opened two months after the flyover is operational,” a PWD official said.

This flyover will also be connected with Phase 3 of the Barapullah Flyover that is under construction. However the Barapullah Phase 3 flyover will take another two years to be ready.
