Noida, Barola: Two sisters found hanging from a tree

Barola village in Noida has been in turmoil since the bodies of two young sisters were found hanging from a tree, a little away from their residence. The deceased have been identified as Lakshmi (18) and Nisha (13).

The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem.

The mother called the incident a murder, and claimed that the husband of her sister-in-law and his nephews together killed her daughters. They had been troubling the girls for quite some time. She categorically blamed Rishi, Bablu, Ravi and Rohit — all nephews of the girls’ uncle — to be involved in the murder.

She added that the nephews would often come to their house and threaten to kill the girls. “We didn’t think they would really kill our daughters! We were shocked when the police told us about the incident in the morning,” she said.

No suicide note has been recovered from the location yet.

The police refused to comment, and said action would be taken, based on the complaint lodged by the victims’ family. The miscreants, the police added, will be arrested once a case was lodged.

A similar incident had taken place in Badaun in May 2014, when the bodies of two Dalit girls — both cousins — were found hanging from a tree in their village. Although parents had alleged rape and murder, the CBI had shut down the case, saying the girls had committed suicide due to family pressure and its disapproval of their friendship with a villager.
