On Christmas Eve, Road Safety Officers, or the RSOs, of Gurgaon had conducted an awareness drive on drunk driving.

The RSOs, in Santa gear and helmets, toured the city on bikes and interacted with commuters. With New Year’s Eve round the corner (when many people are careless enough to drink and drive), this awareness drive is expected to caution people and prevent accidents.

The RSOs toured from Cyber Hub and covered Hong Kong Mall, Golf Course Road, MG Road, Sohna Road, Sector 14 and even some parts of New Gurgaon.

Speaking to City Spidey, Raj Kumar, a road safety officer, said, “Saving lives is one of our most important duties. By enforcing strict traffic rules, we are just trying to make people realise the value of their own lives."

The RSOs, in the guise of Santas, had also distributed goodies among commuters.

Commenting on the initiative, Nishant Seth, a resident of Sohna Road, said, “In the course of casual conversations with commuters, these RSOs had explained why it is important to travel by cab instead of driving a car yourself after any event or party involving alcohol.”
