Gurgaon Police beefs up security ahead of New Year

Gurgaon police is gearing up to provide maximum security to party revellers. The entire city has been divided into 14 sectors, and each sector will have an ACP to supervise security measures.

Extra police personnel have been deployed from headquarters to provide round-the-clock safety. Women RAF (Rapid Action Force) will also be deployed at points where trouble is expected.

Speaking to City Spidey, Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Khirwar, IPS, said, “We will have alcohol censors at most points, and patrolling will be aggressive. There will be mobile squads on PCRs and bikes and QRT (Query Resolution Teams) as well.”

He added, “We’ve had discussions with pub owners to adhere to the timelines specified in the permissions. This will ensure better discipline in operations.”

Gurgaon traffic police will work in close coordination with the police to ensure smooth passage on roads. Certain roads — such as MG Road from Iffco Chowk to Sikanderpur — will be closed to vehicular traffic.
