Delhi traffic police has imposed restrictions on vehicular movement in some areas to ease congestion and ensure hassle-free commute for citizens. Restrictions are in place on roads leading to Connaught Place, one of the New Year hotspots.

According to the traffic chart issued by the Delhi police, all private and public vehicles shall be restricted from 8:30 pm onwards at Connaught Place and central Delhi till the New Year celebrations end after midnight.

“Vehicular traffic in the inner, middle and outer circle area of Connaught Place will be restricted,” the Delhi traffic police circular mentioned.

However, vehicles with labels issued by Delhi traffic police and essential service vehicles like ambulances and fire service will be allowed to pass through. “Traffic police will carry out a special drive against drunk driving, traffic violations at intersections and dangerous driving,” the circular said.

Other areas where special arrangements have been made include Saket, M-Block Greater Kailash, Chirag Delhi, New Friends Colony, Defence Colony, South Extension, Nehru Place near Eros Hotel, Govind Puri Metro Station, Mayur Vihar Extension and others.
