Sushant Lok III residents fume as builder hikes maintenance rates

Residents of Sector 56-57, Gurgaon, are disgruntled with the hike in maintenance rates announced by the builder, Ansal Buildwell Ltd. The rate earlier was 30 paisa per sq ft, and it has been now raised to a rupee, logging an increase of almost 300 per cent.

Irate residents have organised a protest against the hike tomorrow.

“The security of the area is horrible, with incidents of thefts happening regularly. The number of guards has also gone down, and their working hours have been reduced as well,” complained Kunal Garg, a resident of Sector 57

To this, former RWA president of Sector 57, Joginder Sharma, added, “The roads are in a pathetic state with gaping potholes, and no cleanliness. The parks are just there with no maintenance; the plants are never watered or tended to. Under these conditions, why should we pay such hiked maintenance fee?”

Speaking to City Spidey, HC Sharma, a senior official from Ansal Buildwell Ltd, said, “The labour rates in the country have gone up. The guards who were paid Rs 7,500 five years ago, are paid a minimum of Rs 12,000-14000 today. That’s the reason we increased the rates. Regarding roads, we will definitely start their maintenance by March 15, since a certain temperature is needed for such work to start.”

Ajay Pandita, director of Rigoss Estate Networks Private Limited that does the maintenance work, added, “We are suffering owing to bad maintenance rates, and everything has become expensive in the market. If people want their basic needs to be met, they need to pay for it.  An area of 600 acres needs a good degree of maintenance."
