Angry over steep hike in maintenance charges by the builder, residents of Sushant Lok take out a protest march. They threaten to intensify agitation if the hike is not rolled back within a week.
Residents of Sushant Lok 2 and 3 took out a march on Saturday afternoon to protest against a maintenance fee by the builder. Some 500 residents of the two housing societies participated in the 2-km-long protest march.
The protest was led by the president of Sushant Lok 3, who was supported by a few councillors and RWA members from other sectors. The councillor of the area, Mahesh Dayma, also participated keenly in the protest, in which RS Rathee, MCG councillor, Abhay Punia, president of Suncity, Alka Dalal, former councillor of Malibu Towne, and many more prominent persons of the locality were also part of.
Dayma told City Spidey that “the concern of residents is of utmost importance to us and hence we are starting a peaceful protest. However, if demands are not met, we will intensify the protests.”
There have been no improvement in facilities, and in fact the colony is in a pathetic condition, the residents complain.
"We don’t get any facilities. There is no security and cleanliness but the rates are steeply hiked. The builder has to reconsider this decision," said Lt Col (Retd) HS Dhankhar.
The RWA has now handed over a memorandum to the builder to roll back the hiked rates and has given the builder a deadline of seven days to revert.
