Ghaziabad police busted a gang of five burglars involved in housebreaking and stealing from locked houses and flats in societies. Five miscreants, including a goldsmith, were arrested yesterday from Kanauni village of the Indirapuram police station.

According to the police, the arrested miscreants specialised in stealing from houses and flats in societies. The miscreants would first carry out a recce of the locations, and earmark the ones that are empty and without occupants.

They would then enter societies in the guise of plumbers, electricians, housekeeping staff or other service providers. Two of the arrested people were living in rented accommodations in Kanauni Village near Indirapuram, while the other three were arrested from a slum in Kaushambi, Bhobapur village, and Sector 63 of Noida.

Officials maintained that, apart from stealing valuables, they would also escape with the DVR (digital video recorder) of CCTV cameras installed on the premises. This would tracking them down even more difficult.

SK Dubey, SO of Indirapuram police station, told City Spidey, that the miscreants were involved in five burglaries in the Indirapuram police station area in the last one month. “They conducted two burglaries in Vasundhara area and one in Vaishali, Prahladgarhi and Abhay Khand each,” he added.

Valuables, including several mobile phones, laptops, music systems gold ornaments, coins, gold utensils, golden idols and other household electronics, were recovered from their possession.
